What the Bible Says About The New Testament Church

In the first century A.D., Jesus Christ, the son of God, came to earth to establish His church among the people here on Earth.  Once on Earth, Jesus began to teach and preach the Gospel of our Father above. Eventually, Jesus Christ would be persecuted for doing the will of his Father, and would be hanged on the cross, so that all mankind could be forgiven of our sins and have the hope of eternal life.  The New Testament Church became established on the Day of Pentacost in the 2nd Chapter of the Book of Acts.  The message that Peter preached to those present, still applies to us today and is necessary for our salvation.

Then Peter said unto them,  "Repent and be baptized everyone of you for the remission of your sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the holy ghost."
              Acts 2:38

Our Worship Service:

At the South Florida Avenue church of Christ, we believe that it is our duty to worship God on the first day of the week.  In Acts 20:7, the bible states, "And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight."  Jesus taught that true worship to God  must involve the right object (God), the right attitude (In Spirit), and the right way (in truth), John 4:21-24.  During our worship service, we:

• Sing Acapella as a Congregation - Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16; Matthew 26:30
• Pray -  Acts 2:42; 1 Thessalonians 5:17; 1 Timothy 2:18
• Preach/Teach the Bible - Acts 2:42; 2 Timothy 4:1-4; Matthew 28:18-20
• Partaking of the Lord's Supper - Acts 20:5:7; 1 Corinthians 11:23-28; 1 Corinthians 10:16
• Give as we have prospered - 1 Corinthians 16:1-2; 2 Corinthians 9:6-8; 2 Corinthians 8:1-5
